Finding time to develop games, or really to do any focused activity, is absolutely brutal when you have a 2-year-old. But with a lot of determination, sneaking in time at my day job, narrowing down project scope (and I mean narrow), and going slightly insane I'm happy to announce the initial release of Freya's Tower.
I wanted a simple core concept that on paper could be developed in a month or two, and in reality would take four or five. So I thought about all the times I would stack up blocks and watch as my innocent baby gleefully demolished my hard work. When I first started I actually made the opposite game - try to stack the blocks while the little monster child runs around knocking them down. But this quickly felt like a chore to me, and less fun than the real thing. So I flipped it around and decided that the player would do the knocking down, of course with a little extra challenge of matching shapes and colors.
Throwing toys at the towers was also a very real experience which is why you will gather items in the game to chuck at the remaining blocks when you've run out of matches.
I have plenty of ideas for additions to this project including various game modes, however I wanted to focus first on nailing down the core game and creating a package that feels complete. I hope you enjoy it and don't hesitate to leave some feedback!
