Marsescent: Dragon’s Lair is about an old detective on a case where 5 children have gone missing in an arcade. He has to navigate his way through the strange arcade with only one of the employees helping guide him through and giving out information. Eventually, his search leads him to the basement, where he must play through one of the VR games stashed away and defeat the creature that’s taken hold of it.
Welcome into our Second build release!
To give you some context, our studio was created for our college's Game Simulation class where we have ONE semester to create an entire game! This is our second week of working and we are still going strong! Let’s take a look into our week:
The programmers have added in sounds and disappearing/ moving platforms into our platformer section. They’ve also fixed the gravity in both the real life, and the platformer sections of our game. One big problem they’ve been having is how the camera moves in the real world. It’s a bit disorienting while trying to use it.
The artists have continued to model and create concept art. They’re getting better at exporting out at the correct size, but now pivots have been our enemy. They keep getting wonky! We also had a little accident where two versions of one asset were created, but both can be used, so it ended up okay!
For the programmers, they’re focusing on fixing that camera! As well as honing in on the platformer section, and where the enemies will go. There’s also hope to start progress on adding in more dialogue.
For the artists, there's still a lot of modeling to be done. Simultaneously, we're also getting ready to start texturing them all! There’s also going to be some 2D animation and UI work.
It seems as though our hype hasn’t died, and we’re still chugging along! There’s still a ton of work left to do story, art, and programming wise, so I hope you’re excited to hear our progress!
If you’ve read this far, why not follow us here, twitter, and instagram! We will post a devlog once a week describing the what happenings of the past couple days.
Thanks for tuning in, and here’s to more updates,
