I have finally gotten back to developing this project!
And with that, includes a TON of new stuff!
Previously, the game was made in Godot 4's alpha and didnt run very well at all, so I spent some time figuring out a bunch of stuff to make the game run great but also have some unique flare! This includes a full character rewrite, better modeling/data management, as well as a bunch of QOL updates to make the game feel more responsive and fun overall. Most of this is leading up to the preperation of adding networking to the game so it's easier for me to manage and implement a backend.
Another thing I wanted to refine is how npc interactions work! Now you can run up to them and talk to them properly, they can all also play their own animations independant of what's being said, however, this feature has yet to be used. But, you can look and talk with npcs currently, and I would hopefully like to create a branching interaction system for talking to them!
In the future currently, I'm going to start developing the server infrastructure to make this an actual online game, as I wanted to get this proof of concept out for people to try and play, so I know what the community itself would like out of the game itself!
