Heres a brand new update bringing more features and content. All updates from now on will be under the BirdBox Games name.
A basic damage system has finally been added. Hitting walls and other racers will cause damage to your car. Take on enough damage and the car will be forced to retire from the race. Pitting will repair the car back to 100% health. The Ai will also take damage and could retire. But they may decide to pit to repair before this happens. Damage adds an extra layer of strategy you must watch out for, it makes the arena tracks far more challenging. You can crank up the damage further in the race settings if you want a really destructive race.
An important feature now in the game is the ability to have team races. Setting up a custom tournament you will be presented with some randomly generated teams that you may edit, remove, or even add more. It allows a seperate points tally for just the teams. So you can see which team is the best.
You can set the performance/speed of every team, as well as each driver ai skill level. This means you can create your own championship of whatever custom drivers and teams you like. Want a championship based on real life teams and drivers? Go for it, now you can! All of this custom data can be saved in a preset, so you can easily play it again later. Just make sure to hit save before starting the custom tournament!
As usual for every update, more tracks are a must, this time just 2 tracks have been added.
Lake Voiture - Situated in rural france, race around this large lake on this easy but fast circuit.
Imoto Park - Probably the most technical track in the game, this South African track will need all you concentration to stay on the racing line and not end up in the grass.
All the other tracks have had some changes, ranging from very minor to significant. They have all had environmental decorations added to outside the circuits, to suit their settings better. Also Sunset circuit had some adjustments to the layout to make it a little cleaner.
Something I always wanted added was a post-race screen showing far a more detailed breakdown of the race. With the stats screen you can now view tire strategies, fastest sectors or laps for each driver, and position changes lap by lap.
Driver names, nationalities and team names have had generators implemented, to make the races a little more realistic. These are quite basic at the moment, so will have more names added to them over time to allow generating thousands of different names. Also so far half of the flag designs are added, the other half, mainly african countries, will show a blank flag for now until they are updated. Randomise buttons have been added to racer setup to generate new names.
Thanks for all the feedback so far, the game is getting there, but still a few updates away from being fully released. The next couple of updates will be major additions. The first will finally implement championship mode, then the second will add proper car models, moving away from the prototype design. These updates won't be out for a while, likely the summer of 2024.
