one of my friends, Amy, drew a butterfly animation and I made a firefly particle effect! "SPM" (the amazing and talented python dev) put it all together into a day and night cycle in the village which takes about 20 minutes of real time to loop.
As it gets darker, fireflies appear more often and while its day time butterflies fly around, they are most frequent in the midday sun :)
