Ducklog #2 - Where we're at rn

Lord of the Wings
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

It's been a couple of very quiet months since the last ducklog, when I optimistically claimed we could do a release on August 1st 2023.

(Haha, yeah, no.)

When the demo came out, we'd been working like lunatics, non-stop, for two months, with a scope that was, frankly, insane. At that point, I was a little high on jam fumes and thought I could definitely, totally, ✨for sure✨ finish LotW by December and, while I was at it, take over the world.

(Yeah. Again, no.)

The second I stopped to take a breath, I just... stopped entirely. It wasn't a dramatic type of thing, more slow-mo, where I faded into myself and fell back into my normal, non-dev life. I didn't do... much of anything for a few months. I felt a little empty, a little overwhelmed and, frankly, I couldn't bring myself to care.

After a while of sort of just... existing, I started coming back alive around early November.

We have finally resumed development, but keeping the insane jam pace was a pipe dream. So instead, we've been working on it in bits and pieces, getting things done here and there, a little every day/week.

What does that mean, for you specifically?

If you're interested in the smol updates, we're currently working on Release #2 for LotW, which will be available soon on the Discord Server for anyone with a playtester role. It will include days 2 and 3 of the game, which is about 1/7 of the total LotW content.

If you're waiting for the whole thing to get released, it does mean you'll be waiting a good while. We are, however, committed to getting it done, so, never fear, you'll eventually get to binge the whole dumb thing in one go.

That's all from me, hope y'all are having a great day 🦆❤️
