Hey folks,
last weeks I had not so much time and motivation to work on this project. This is also the reason, that I didn't write a dev log two weeks ago. Nevertheless, I want to show you the changes I made for the last four weeks.
The residents have needs now, that the player has to satisfy. For the beginning, I implemented the need for a home and the need for food (vegetables). You can see the state of the needs when you select a resident.
With the needs of the residents, I also implemented happiness for the residents. If all needs are satisfied the happiness is 100% but when something isn't satisfied the happiness will be reduced. You can see the happiness of one resident if you select him. If you select a residence you can see the averange happiness of the residents who live there. And at the top, you can see the total happiness of all your residents. At the moment, the happiness isn't very well balanced.
To supply the player with the necessary information, I implemented a message system. At the left border of the screens some messages do pop up, if something interesting happenes. This is also not very well balanced and some messages are spamming.
I implemented a new event system, that waits for certain situations and starts an associated event. At the moment I added two events. If the total happiness is above 90%, new residents arrive in your village and if the total happiness is under 30% some of your residents leave your village.
I redesigned the UI because I was really unhappy with it. As I told you on twitter, I am really uncertain with the colors but apart of that, I am happy with it.
Furthermore, I made some bug fixes and started to balance all the features I implemented. This is still my next big topic. I have to put all the features in a context, that to play this game is fun. I will also fix most of the bugs I collected and improve the performance in the next weeks. If you find some bugs or if you had a nice idea for my game, write a comment and let me know.
