Hey all, sorry for the silence and lack of progress on this front. Turns out I am terrible at time management!
But here’s how things have been going…
There’s now a Beta pdf available for download, which is (mostly) a laid out version of the current “dev build”. This is my first step in getting the beta branch complete and sufficiently polished to move into being the “main branch”. The PDF is currently missing the “Unfinished Business” example dungeon, and is likely riddled with typos and broken hyperlinks.
The goal is that when it moves over it will be a feature complete version of Brighter Worlds. Only fixes and polishing from there, no more major feature or sections added. An example of play is the main thing I still plan to add, outside of completing the Cast & Crew and Bestiary chapters. Unless there’s something vital I’ve missed, everything else can wait for supplements.
You can read the mostly exhaustive changelog over on the dev branch SRD for now, so feel free to protest any changes being made.
The first official adventure (outside the mini one included in the dev branch) is almost ready! The files are to the printer, and I expect to have the copies in hand within a week. After that I’ll be shipping them out to the various storefronts interested in stocking copies, and the PDF will be available for purchase at around the same time you can buy one physically.
I’m actually really pleased with how everything turned out on this, and am really looking forward to seeing how it looks in riso print.
In between knocking it out of the park on the Wizard Trash layout, Brian (brstf.games) has been fiddling with making tiny pocket mod character sheets for Brighter Worlds, which are absolutely adorable and I love them. He’s still working out the kinks for the best way to get the margins to play nice with home printers, but look at these!
That’s all for now, I’ll hopefully be getting the Beta version complete in the near future, but no promises as far as actual timeline.
Please do let me know what you think of the latest changes, am I going down the wrong path? Have I spent too long fiddling with this rules and it’s leading me to pointlessly change terminology that was working perfectly fine? Probably!
