#unity #platforms #final
In the last week of development, I built the scene using the assets that I had previously downloaded. I created some prefabs for my different types of platforms (static and moving) and added animations to the ones that required them.
When I started the project, I was very excited, but this particular week I was so euphoric to see the final version of the game (for now). This was a heavy week but really fun at the same time (thinking about 1,000 ideas for the game).
Basically, I was focused on the platform system, thinking about position, size, and behavior. Also, I have a little bit of time to implement two kinds of obstacles to make the game harder and more fun. During this final week, I implemented sound effects and a menu to restart, pause, and resume the game.
But the big challenge here was making my player respawn when falls from a platform or land. I have no idea how to approach that, and I refuse to exclude it from the game since I believe it makes the game attractive (who wants to play this kind of platform game without a checkpoint?). Hopefully, my research skills are good and I was able to figure it out with YouTube videos.
Finally, I created a game manager to handle the game over and level complete scenarios, the UI menu for the game. So after testing my game repetitively, I feel free and proud to share it with my friends to get feedback and identify if it was a bug to fix quickly before submitting.
I'm very proud of and satisfied with the final product. I really did my best and tried to put into practice most of the things I learned in the last eight months of boot camp. I really had a great time building this game, and I want to keep working on it.
The new goal is to develop at least three more levels, including a boss challenge and bring the game to mobile platforms. Of course, it will introduce Takito's combat, more power-ups, obstacles, and Mimoso (Takito's best friend).
Thanks for playing my game!
