Tabula games are now supported at bgammon.org, a free and open source backgammon service.
You can create a match and play against someone else, or play against the computer by joining “(Tabula) BOT_tabula_tabula’s match”.
Tabula has been played for at least 1,500 years, as Byzantine emperor Zeno recorded a particularly unfortunate roll he threw and the resulting weakening of his position.
