Happy post demo day depression everyone! I'm not sure if I intend to do regular changelogs. but I felt like writing what I've added and a few thoughts.
- Added a preparation screen. Select units to take into battle, and trade items before starting a level. Inspect the map as well!
- Fixed General DD bugs. Most notable the issue causing enemies to attack from VERY far away, or too close in archers cases.
- Spruced up the 4th level with some more trees for better gameplay
- Added a few chest
- Fixed spelling errors
My main notes for demo day where:
Demo day notes:
- Narrativize, Narrativize,Narrativize. We need characters and a story. Random events should include 2 maps at least, with goals other then rout
- Background music!
- Things are pretty hard. Ease up on difficult or give higher level units to start.
- Need a between camp scene between levels, where people can trade, buy, sell etc.
- Pick/Name units before game start? Something to make people more interested in them
- Zero damage sound effect
- Mouse controls
Like the top comment says, my main content thrust is going to be adding some kind of narrative or story to the game, but I still want the player to direct the choices in typical "roguelite" fashion. Right now my main goal is adding a kind of "world map" that players can navigate under a time limit before the next story level. Something like FTL, but you spend a bit long on each map, and the end fight is a set piece.
This is just brainstorming though, hopefully I'll have some progress to show in the next few days.
