Moral choices

Hello those that feel that A Shard's Tale might be something for you,

though currently the game is still void of adult content, it will eventually be able to get there. Please do understand that the game is build around a story that is of ...I like to say...epic proportions. I wasn't sure whether adult content (like sexual encounters) would fit, but of course, like in real life, carnal pleasures are part of our history, present and future. 

This technical talk is about the fact that you won't be able to decide how to act on a girl to get enough points to 'score' her. The system will have an extensive 'moral' decision tree, that will influence your chances. 

During the game, you will make decisions that seem small, or larger. They will add to your 'moral decisions'. These will cause certain choices to be available, depending on whether you have selected decisions in the past that would be in line with them. The amount of times you decided a certain thing can also influence available options. Not just 'Have you spoken to NPC X', but also: How often have you decided to trust someone, or have you decided to trust someone but came back on your word? This can cause the story to skip a choice, or decide for you, based on those choices. 

This is a simple version of how our brain is working IRL. You walk a road every day, at a certain point, you don't even notice you walked that road, until you are at your destination. You can even decide to buy a brand, simply because you did so several times before and your brain simply says: Okay, lets cut the middle man. 'Hand, pick up the food', 'Rationalize the fact that the person did'. 

There are also somewhat simpler statistics in the game, like strength level, seek level, intelligent level, magic level etc. They go for the MC, but also for the different possible side characters that might accompany the MC on his journey.

The 0.02 update that will be out before 31st of December 2023 (if everything goes well), will show some of that in action.
