Progress continues to happen and I am becoming more and more happy with this little game. For this newest Dev-Blog, there some substantial changes, and at the end some teases for what I am planning for the future.
To Begin, Normal and Madness have been removed, and will probably never return. This was always an inevitability, as they were made early and made in a way I was no longer happy with. They would load new Scenes each time the round end and started, which lead to some odd loading issues.
However, this does not mean that the shops that came with them are entirely lost, they have been brought into the Wave mode, which will get a bigger deep dive right now:
- After Starting the Round, the current wave of cards is briefly shown at the top of the screen.
-The Card Shop adds more available options to choose from before starting the next round, with protection from duplicates in both the shop and your hand. Buying cards also re-rolls the hand selection, so it can be used as a tactical re-roll if needed.
- The mysterious Modifier Shop allows you to purchase Pain/Power cards which can be drawn at the beginning of a round to add stat modifiers for that round while also increasing the multiplier of your bounty at the end.
And that’s the newly updated Wave mode, now with new shops, and a return of the deck-builder aspects that I really wanted in this game.
So what do I have planned next? Sound, Music and general ‘juice’ as been sorely missing and more work to remedy that will happen. More patterns are also an important addition that is being worked on.
Other than that, I have plans for two new major additions. While these are super early, I wanted to at least address what will be taking the most time going forward.
I have plans for a new mode that will turn the game of Exploding Pixels on it’s head.
I also have plans for a new thing that you can use to add more variety to the game, and will hopefully make the game much more dynamic.
There is still a ton of work left before I feel like this project is complete, but each new thing and change I add makes me happier with what I have made.
as always, see you in the next one,
