Thanks to the support of 160 new patrons on CoillWorks, I've been able to dedicate a nice chunk of time to porting Coill City to Ren'Py! Made some good progress and learnt a lot.
You can read the full progress report on this public post on Coill City's Patreon.
Main takeaways:
- 2/22 events have been ported (slowest due to length and having to learn how the language works, future ones should go faster).
- Assets size has been severely reduced (hopefully the exported builds should run well on almost anything).
- Made 4 more illust. during November, will have to write their script for a new release.
As expected, I may not be able to make everything look like the original. Some of the transitions I used in Unity don't exist on Ren'Py and I still have to learn to use Ren'Py's fully, such as how to manipulate the camera and create nice looking UI screens. It may take a while, but I'll keep looking into ways into making it as close to the original as possible.
I'm hoping to make good progress in January, but the holidays will take a big chunk of time, so chances are it won't be ready until February, at least, but I'll still try for January.
Once I have a Ren'Py build, I'll make a new public release here with a few more events available.
Thank you to everyone who became a patron of Coill City's Patreon! I was concerned barely anyone would join but I've been pleasantly surprised! If patronage keeps growing, I'll be able to dedicate a lot more time to this project, exciting times!
You can download the latest public build from this MEGA folder.
That's all for now. Thank you all for all your interest and bug reports! I look forward to bringing you a much more stable and lighter build soon, please near with me in the meantime.
