PUM V7 FINAL is out!
Dear PUM players,
After two extensive actual play tests this evening, I feel happy with how PUM v7 plays!. And I really hope that it is not only for me!
To make a summary, this is what's new in V7 compared to V6
- PUM now takes it seriously when we say it unfolds plots! Now we play plot structures in PUM.
- Plot Track as a measure of plot progress is now a core mechanic for PUM. A bar has been added where players check boxes.
- A total of 6 variants of Plot Tracks have been included in separate sheets. Journey and drama plot structures are there.
- Active Threads are now replaced with Active Leads, which refer to open clues and questions in your game.
- Scenes as a general concept has been removed in favor of Scene Beats, which represent a smoother flow of events.
- Scene Beats count for the plot track and are always impacted by some degree of randomness.
- The ABCD prompt tables have been reviewed to always push your game forward, and not get you stuck.
- The oracle tables have been reviewed:
- Yes or No oracle has now three points of view, to be able to ask more granular questions with some fun twists
- The other oracles have been replaced with more concrete prompts, as old PUM was extremely vague with oracles
- The advice and instructions have been expanded so you can read much more into how to play PUM
- All this has been done in a way that is extremely simple to play PUM, ideally even without reading any instructions!
There's a lot more into it, as V7 was playtested under 18 revisions! (holy dear!) - Thanks extremely much to preview testers (Steve, Stargolem, virivim, and Little Bean!, you rock!!!)
Update policy: Only typos or grotesque mistakes will trigger a new revision.
Cheers,
JeansenVaars
