Dev Log 2: Uh. 100 days later?

Not Going Back
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

Hello!

Coincidentally, as I went to make this status update I checked back on the last one to remind myself what I'd said before and discovered that the first dev log was 100 days ago. So, by pure coincidence, this is a 100 days later dev log.

First of all, a brief apology for the lack of communication by and large prior to this. I had anticipated being very busy with other commitments for most of September, but this extended into October and I was far busier than I had expected. This isn't an especially good excuse for the lack of communication, but I am going to endeavour to try and be better with this moving forward (for instance, more frequent dev logs).

Towards the end of October I was able to commit a bit more time to the game again. I'm still not quite at the productivity level I was at, say, for the majority of August but that is also partly due to the fact that the current scene I'm working on for the game is a huge time sink. It's the biggest scene in the game so far in terms of amount of characters present and everything from load times to posing time to render times is excruciatingly long. Once I get through the scene I'll feel a lot better generally about progress on the game as things should pick up but for now it is a little laborious.

As for the actual update to Chapter 2, I am now over 1000 renders in. The chapter is completely written, so it's just the rendering of the images that is taking the time. But, as with all games where the visuals are developed using DAZ, this will almost always be the case.

Overall, the key thing is I am still working on the game, albeit slower than I would want, and I will make an effort to be better at communicating the progress of the updates through dev logs like this.

I've thrown a few more previews at the top of the post as well.

Thanks!
