Update 0.5.1
Hi! I am very happy to announce the latest update to HeXaK - update 0.5.1, this update is massive in terms of enhancing the game and more importantly adding a bunch of content.
I look forward to any feedback that you have with the new update and what you think of the new challenge levels (difficulty, level of fun and if they teach you the game!)
The next update should not take as long as most of the new tooling is stable - main things for the next update are the new save system, better sounds and continuing with visuals and polish.
With the new level editor I will be adding new levels and starting to add new tiles in the coming weeks - the first of which being the factory.

Challenge Levels
Added Custom maps - there are currently 36 handmade challenge levels that range from tutorials to hard challenges that introduce mechanics over time.
- Support for Custom maps
- Custom inventory for each map
- Custom scores rather than generated
- Map editor tooling
- Custom map pre built tiles
- New Level select UI
- New Star system
- Each challenge level has 3 points targets
- These targets are subject to change as the 3 stars may be too hard for most players
Gameplay
- More game over conditions
- Allow levels to end once score has been reached
- Wind Turbines now grant bonus power if placed on a large mountain - this should hopefully make placement a little more strategic
- Parks now grant bonus points when adjacent to water, houses and other parks
Visuals
- Water visual Improvements
- GPU Instancing
- Progress bar shader and material
- New loading screens
- Particles and more polish
- Added new Power and worker popups
- Points achieved particles
- Animated text count up for HUD elements (power, workers, points)
- Sequenced Level start
- Updated and grouped Popup info icons
- Moved controls and how to play
- Show level names or seeds
- Custom map status messages
- Better game over UI - show stats and give hints
Misc changes
- New high score tracking - will be expanded later
- High score no longer replaces level score target
- Undo on HQ no longer restarts game
- Undoing now adds items back in a predictable order
- Better mineral counts in random gen
