In the spring I put together Block Partay over a weekend. The game was pretty basic with just 4 levels. I had designed the game so I could play it on a phone as well as a laptop. I liked how it played but using mouse clicking events on the phone made the slide puzzle do double moves versus playing the game using the arrow keys which was a much better game play as one could finesse the tiles to get the matches wanted.
With that in mind I decided to revisit the game as the days got shorter and colder here I found myself looking for something to work on. So the last few days I have been working on improving this game. The first thing I added a new color merging mechanic adding a white tile which destroys yellow and black tiles and merging with red to made pink.
Then I added a paint can feature where one can paint a tile to help when the board fills up with too many of the same tiles. After this I had made the game have 10 increasing difficult levels that one could not play through the entire game in one sitting.
Today I worked on implementing a save and load game system so someone wanting to play through the game could save their game and resume in the next session. So the game is much bigger and better than before but I tried not to ruin the simplistic game play too much so the game is still fun to play.
