Week 4 Dev Log: Oct. 9 - Oct. 15
Dates: Oct. 9 - Oct. 15
Decisions:
- Level Design
- Updating level 1 to be slightly more interactive
- Trading out box for a spring to bounce up
- Making first box moveable instead
- General Gameplay
- Update moveable objects to be able to reset with keypress
- Increase movement speed from playtest feedback
- Hint System
- Letters appear when using a hint
- Later on, limit hints by allowing players to spell extra words for hints
- Theme
- Company now named SpiderCo.
- Spiders will have suits to show they are Woody’s bosses
- Above ensures spider enemies fit theme
Obstacles / Things to Consider:
- When spelling extra words, do we want to create the object and allow them to “reclaim” it
- A lot of extra work on art side
- How can we expand the word list without heavily increasing the resources needed artistically
- Increasing interactivity without over-expanding invalid words
Progress:
- Level 1 full functional implementation
- Design document complete
- Spider chases player in “danger zone” instead of statically not moving
- Implemented UI for word spelling system to spawn objects
