It's time to document the development of our serious game over my time.
Happily, my game theme was chosen. We will start planning and designing The Dark Chain as a game afterward. My initial idea at the moment is that the game can be made into a mouse-clicking puzzle game in reference to Ace Attorney. Players will find useful information and evidence from conversations with the deceased's friends, netizens, and family members to supplement a chain in the game. And this chain is the truth hidden behind the whole story. At the end of the game, the player will find out that the cyber-violence that caused the suicide of the character in the game is actually someone's deliberate action. Our group discussed and agreed that the game should have a story that is realistic enough to be convincing. At the same time, the story structure should be complete enough that not too many details are left out. This is so that the players can empathize with the story at the end of the game, and thus get and learn the message that we want to convey in this serious game.
I also did my presentation in class, and unfortunately, I was interrupted when I was one sentence away from finishing. But the good thing is that I was quick enough to express all my design intentions. After this, we also had a short meeting as a group to decide on our division of labor. I was mainly responsible for the narrative and puzzle design. I hope this game will be loved by players after it is released.
