Esoteric Update #243 - A Neglected Novelette

Esoteric ♥ Esoterica
A downloadable game for Windows

There's no lore today, and I'm probably going to pause lore posting for a while since I've checked our catalogue, and there's nothing left that I feel is polished enough to share. So until we get some more texts up to snuff, we won't be posting lore. Next week I'll try to post some things that are not lore, though, just so there's something here.

Now, for the update. This was week two of taking care of loose ends, and this involved some optimisation to the code, some changes to the UI and some extensions to the API. Visually, this impacted the Walter site the most, I'd say, as it now looks... considerably less scuffed:

Right, right, we've also updated the socials in the main menu due to Patreon's logo change and us essentially abandoning our Twitter (it's still there; I'm just no longer posting there because it was always pointless).

That said, there are also a few more specific things we've managed to work on. Firstly, we're trying to push out the first major update to the thought experiments, aimed chiefly at providing the player with more information about the experiments themselves. This does involve some changes to the glossaries, too.

But the big-big thing today is that we are finally bringing something into the game that was long overdue... the bonus section will contain that novelette I wrote when taking a break from the game around a year ago. I've been neglecting to share the entire thing, but that's mostly because I'm (as usual) not feeling too happy with what I wrote. Still, it'll be available in the game; I'll try to add a chapter or three every week so we can have it done as soon as possible.

I'll take one more week to clear off some remaining loose ends, including new clothing items and more texts for existing events.
