Dev log 2 - Pitching a Game

Devlog
A downloadable project

During our class time, we were tasked with pitching our initial game ideas to the class. My concept was a game called Carbon: A Post Climate Conundrum RPG, which is an immersive sim building upon the coal = ability usage mechanic from my prior development log.  Carbon was influenced by both the original Fallout and Deus Ex: games that react well to player freedom and provide multitudes of options to support player progression.

My feedback was in regards to the scope of the project and the demands such a game would put on a small team. I was well aware of this when conceptualizing the project, but still decided to pitch Carbon to help get my ideas written down paper, a game concept I've had in the back of my head since 2019. Our team has decided to pivot towards a different pitch from a different team member, which is an outcome I'm very okay with. If nothing else, pitching Carbon gave me an opportunity to write down the key hooks, features and narrative that I haven't had an opportunity to explore on my own. Meaning that now I have a game pitch that, even if I can't explore it now, I'd be more then happy to try developing it in the future.
