We have some very good news for you all today in regards to progress on In Heat!
On the programming side, the Unity build has already caught up to the equivalent functionality in the First Nights prequel made in Unreal Engine 5. Unity has proven to provide a huge boost in production speed, despite its recent shortcomings.
Gameplay wise, all the girls had a few changes and additions to their behavior in order to spice things up. So let's talk a bit about the major changes and updates that you will be seeing in this definitive build.
In previous builds, Sammy had the ability to steal your stress toy. While this is an adequate idea, we felt her participation in each night could be even more involved.
Her new integration prevents all usage of camera systems and doors, as she sneaks into your room and blocks your reach with the whole of her presence. As you can probably tell, this is a rather high impact ability. Which is suitable for our mascot character.
Poppi's gameplay mechanic, where she casually drops a bomb in your room every now and then, has received some extra flair and polish both to how it works and how it looks, while remaining the same in how to survive it.
Additionally, our queen Nile has had a major update to her gameplay. While originally she had a somewhat functional hypnosis mini game and a simpler mechanic in the prequel, we decided to combine her newest behavior with more of her personality into her gameplay.
We think you'll like the polish on her, so do pay attention to her when in the cameras. If you want to keep them, that is.
Maddie's also received her own update, providing more of her MASSIVE personality and charming company to the player, whether you want it or not!
