Progress Log 5 - Enticing Sewer Advertisement

Bullet Bunny
A downloadable game for Windows

Team Summary

This week the team presses onwards with the development of level two with a branching arm reaching into our marketing packaging for Bullet Bunny in preparation for an upcoming event where we are going to showcase Bullet Bunny to the public at an organised games event. Further developments to visual marketing was made in the form of the poster and video content is being prepared for editing. In terms of the game development itself, steady progress is being made on the fronts of level aesthetics in the terrain tileset as well as in the functional game mechanics, with most level-two-specific mechanics in place. With adequate time, we'll also look into gameplay optimisation and minor tweaking for that last bit of polish to round off our game to be in as ready of a state as it can be for the showcase!

  • Written tutorial video script and recorded tutorial video audio.
  • Animated the acid bubble sprite for level two.

Acid bubble hazard sprite for level two. Can be attacked with a downward aerial attack to gain additional height from a bounce.

  • Tutorial video requires visual assets and is to be recorded and edited.
  • Acid bubble sprite requires minor adjustment

  • Animate the sprites for Buck when accelerating/decelerating on the sliding pipe.
  • Record gameplay for tutorial video and edit the footage with the audio.

  • Adjust the acid bubble sprite size to make the pop more circular.

  • Drawn terrain tiles for level two.

  • Continue on the terrain tiles to finish the minor adjustments.
  • Begin work on the background tileset.

Raymond

Completed

  • Implemented the new sliding pipe assets. Some bug fixes as the sliding pipes introduced seams which created issues in comparison to the continuous placeholder assets.
  • Implemented the new walking acid enemy. It will appear from the ground, move forward to a designated position, then exit by sinking into the floor. It will repeat this action until it is defeated.
  • Implemented the new flying enemy sprites and animations for level one that were adjusted.
  • Implemented the falling platform with its respective sprites and animations.
  • Implemented the acid spouts from the broken sliding pipe segments. The acids spouts are hazardous to Buck and can be adjusted with delay, frequency and active time parameters.

In Progress

  • Falling platform animation needs minor adjustments.

Assigned Tasks

  • Refine the falling platform animations.
  • Implement the framework for a new flying enemy for level two that orbits around a designated point.
  • Refinement of the movement system to make jumps feel more forgiving and responsive.

Notes

The CAT walker enemy is actually just an enemy spawner instead of being a single enemy that moves through the ground. Essentially, an enemy is spawned, it will pop up from the ground, move to the correct position, then when it reaches the end position it will fall into the ground and then de-spawn. This loop of spawning and de-spawning continues until the CAT walker enemy has been killed.

  • Completed refined sketches and composition for the poster.

  • Poster to be inked and coloured. Other tasks peripheral to the poster are paused to prioritise the poster.
  • Level two flying enemy to be animated.
  • Level two walking enemy bubbles to be adjusted to aesthetically align to the acid bubble hazard.

  • Vectorisation of the Bullet Bunny logo for use on the poster and other material.
  • Finish the poster in print-ready formats.
