It's been a full month since I uploaded the first version of the project. Doesn't feel like it... I have been busier than I would've like, which has made the progress on the game slower. It might seem as if I haven't done much, but most of my time was spent split between thinking about the design on paper, reading philosophy books and actually making progress in Unity.
The main things I implemented in this version are :
Having played through the game a handful of time, I have to say I'm pretty happy with the feeling you get roaming around the woods. Especially since I haven't implemented the functionality on some items (compass, map, binoculars, etc.), it's super easy for you to get turned around and lost. Even for me, who knows where the shrines are located, it's surprisingly hard to just guess where I am.
This month should be more productive. I plan on implementing all of the features relating to the items to make navigation easier and more deliberate. I also want to make a big push on the level design. For now the game lacks substance to keep the player engaged during a full play session. The forest is similar wherever you are on the island and there is almost no flora and fauna. It's going to be one of my main objectives this month to add those things and other points of interests to make it more fun for the player to explore and find interesting subjects for their pictures.
I will also need to start overhauling the UI/UX, the soundscape and the visuals. (Especially the first loading screen which is really bad...)
