Hi guys,
The last 10 days have been really fun. I decided to challenge myself and take part in the LOWREZJAM, which had a pretty strong limitation of 64x64 screen resolution. This turned out to be a very good practice in pixel art as I was naturally required to draw the environment, items and characters to fill in the gaps. And overall, game design was mostly driven by the pixel art.
As for the game engine, I was initially tempted to use the TIC-80, as it has built-in editors for images, tilemaps, sounds, and music. However, since I'm not good at Lua, I explored other options and ultimately chose the Pyxel engine. Things I enjoyed about it:
So even though I was using this game engine for the first time I enjoyed it a lot.
Game project with resources and source code is available here.
In the end, I finished and released the game and it was a fun learning experience. I hope it will inspire someone to make and release their own game too!
