New Demo Released + Demo Postmortem

Hello, everyone! 

Killer Trait's NEW DEMO has finally been released! ৻(  •̀ ᗜ •́  ৻)

Now, what does this demo include? First of all, apart from the new cover (with gorgeous art from Kyleechii), you'll notice that the textbox is a little bit different. The quick menu buttons are inside it and the textbox itself is more visible than before. I'm also considering the possibility of changing the textbox entirely or even commissioning new UI but it'll depend on my available funds. 

Another thing you'll notice is that there's more partial voice acting! Apart from Oz, you'll now be able to hear Arthur's, Aslan's and Carl's voices! So exciting!! ( ๑ ˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡ I casted Oz's and Aslan's VAs myself, but wanted to give a huge thank you to VeryBerryStudios for helping me with the casting for Arthur and Carl! 

But wait, there's more! Apart from some little changes in the script here and there, this demo comes with one additional scene!! This is a scene that I wanted to add for the NaNoRenO 2023 jam but wasn't able to at the time. It's the scene that actually finishes the prologue! Unlike my initial idea of 7 in-game days (just like in Where Winter Crows Go, aka WWCG), Killer Trait will have 10 in-game days (11 if you count the demo's prologue) instead. I thought it'd make more sense for it to have a bit more time involved, especially considering there are more characters in this story compared to WWCG.

Now, on a different topic. Although, at first, I mention I was thinking of making Killer Trait a "name your own price" project just like WWCG,  I'm now considering the possibility of making it a commercial game. This is because the game will take me more time to make as well as money (especially considering it will have more CGs and voice acting). I haven't completely decided yet, though, but it's something I'm taking into consideration. If it ends up being commercial, it'd be around 4 or 5 USD.

Apart from that, some other important news is that Killer Trait will now go on a bit of an "on-hold" situation. This isn't a hiatus, per se, as my Patreon will continue to have art updates for CGs and mini-CGs (food art, etc), but it DOES mean that Killer Trait won't have as many updates as my other two current projects (WWCG and Potion Pleasing) for a while.

At this point in time, I want to be DEEPLY focused on WWCG, since the story is in its final stage with only 1 in-game day remaining to be written (plus I'd like to polish a few things here and there). Once WWCG is finished, my focus will be on Potion Pleasing for a while, so that I can then come back to Killer Trait's script with renewed energy ᕙ(  •̀ ᗜ •́  )ᕗ

My plan is to still release the full-version of Killer Trait next year, but I'm someone who needs to vary the projects I work on a little bit so as to not get burned out from them and keep my motivation high (working on a single project for a long time can make you bored of it, after all, and I really don't want that to happen). My Patreon will still have beta builds released, from time to time, but that will be once WWCG is finished and, most probably, once a good portion of Potion Pleasing has been written as well.
