Update V.2.0 (Major Update)
Hey there! I made some pretty major changes to WriteRush. You can see all of them below:
- Rewrote about 80% of the code :D
- Fixed the positioning of the particles. They should always spawn at the caret now. Yay!
- Major UI overhaul!
- Deleted “Personal Information” menu (this was meant to be a system where you could level up. I’ll add this in a future update).
- Organized the files into folders.
- Made “Settings” update changes immediately.
- Changed the “Save” button on the navbar to “Export” to prevent confusion
- Re-ordered the navbar/menu buttons to make it more intuitive.
- Made the WriteRush text a button.
- Moved the “About” menu button to the “WriteRush” button
- Typing particles are now only confetti.
- Made it so you can change the amount of confetti.
- Fixed screen shake intensity (the previous code was REALLY buggy lol)
- Screen shake is not limited to the x-axis, it now moves in random directions. This looks better.
- Added line breaks and more spacing between each section in “Settings”.
- Added blur effect for menus.
- Made the scrollbar design fit in with the rest of WriteRush.
- Removed the outline effect when the textarea (the place in which you write) is selected.
- Fixed bug where the typing area will flicker if you have extremely long lines.
- Changed UI font.
- Improved how the progress bar looks.
- Made the fireworks animation shorter (it was way too long before).
- Deleted the start menu that prompted you to “Continue Previous Session” or “Set a new Goal”. It now continues the previous session by default.
- Starting message that displays once.
- Made the save system WAY simpler (you won’t see any differences, but this makes it much easier to develop).
- Changed the export .txt files from “output.txt” to “WriteRush_Output.txt”.
- Replaced all visual customization with a simple night-mode checkbox.
- Made the progress bar immediately update when opened.
- Made it so that already-completed words don’t shoot confetti from the progress bar when WriteRush is opened.
The changes are really nice, in my opinion! They took about 3 straight days of coding to accomplish, and I'm really proud of them. This has improved WriteRush tremendously. But don't worry, I'm not stopping here! I have some more updates planned, I was just super excited to share this, so I went ahead and did that.
Version 2.0 is a complete rewrite of version 1.3 — hence why I changed it to 2.0. It has everything the previous version had, but also with some major quality-of-life improvements. And the UI looks REALLY good.
If you like WriteRush, please leave a review! It helps so much!
Thank you for supporting WriteRush, and I hope this helps you in your writing adventures!
