Chapter 3: what changed and when will it be out?

In Heat: Honeymoon!
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

Hello everyone! It's been quite a while.

So let's get right to it: I would like to address what's happened in the past few months and what's planned for this year.

Where the heck??

For those who follow me on twitter, you might already know that I've developed a heavy case of depression around September of last year. While I managed to pull through with chapter 2, the fact that In Heat: Lustful Nights' development has been rocky this past half year meant more work was to be put into the main game than expected

A diagnosis was reached around April, and the respective medication for treating the depression has helped me a lot, but it only helps up to a point. Besides, with real-life errands to manage and a nighttime work schedule, things just got harder to manage. I never would have imagined it would take this long to get chapter 3 started however, but I'm still trying to handle. I'm not as much of an art machine as I used to be after my overwork injuries.

What do now?!

I intend to release chapter 3 still this year. But there's a lot of stuff coming up this year, such as the steam release for my other game Pandemommyum and a whole new chapter for Late Night Delivery's Steam collection.

I also have a few ideas in mind for the future of Honeymoon. I don't feel comfortable aiming for an eventual Steam release with some of the content included in the game right now. Mainly, there are two aspects I'm considering altering completely.

First, the current models used in the game. They are unoptimized to work with for animations, chugging the speed on a laptop with RTX and downright just crashing blender too often to be usable. Most of the time spent in the making of the game was redrawing several frames of animation to ensure the models looked better. They also don't match the game's polish are are the main game's outdated designs. So for an eventual Steam release, I would aim to replace every asset containing the previous models. It sounds like more work than it is, since the new models are much better to work with and the code is already there.

I understand a few people like the old designs, they're just really messy to work with.

Second, the inclusion of the character Cassidy. This character was a secret, whose plot for their third appearance proved to bee too ambitious to be doable. Her presence essentially duplicated every ending depending on whether you picked Cassidy at the start of the game, after a date, after 2 dates, etc.
Cassidy is also cringe and smells bad. So I'll be removing her from the game.

poggies.

I'm sorry that I can't get this out sooner, but I only have 2 hands and a laptop. And with progress in the main game improving at a rapid speed, it means more involvement with that. I've been working my hardest to prepare for the next half year and bring you guys some proper good content. Please look forward to more soon, and thank you for the continued support!
