Quality of Life Update
Posted July 29, 2023 by Tass
Hey everyone! I have released a new update for the game. The focus of this update is to make the game more intuitive and easier to play on mobile devices with better UI. There is also a new room, a new difficulty system, and more custom interactions with characters.
In this update, the following has been added/improved:
- Omens now increase the chances of enemies spawning, making the early game much easier to play.
- A lot of this game is based around random interactions, but there's always a chance of experiencing the same dialog/action twice in a session. I updated the randomness algorithm to exclude dialog that has already been said (if possible) to make the game feel more natural.
- Added a new room that augments weapons, making them even more powerful.
- Player and Enemy dice show on the screen, making it easier to see why certain events occurred.
- Created an inventory button and UI, making it easier to see everything a player has and can utilize.
- An icon shows weapons that are equipped or are applying an active effect.
- Created a shorthand for understanding events. You can still click on items to see the details.
- ex. t4 means it adds 4 to your dice total and d1 means it adds 1 dice to your roll.
- When you have too many items/omens/companions, it now tells you which one you have too much of.
- Stats that change in a passage are highlighted with green/red when they are changed.
- I finished interactions for the Erie shop and the angel.
Bugs that have been fixed:
- All enemies were doing wayyyy too much damage. That has been fixed.
- There were a lot of places where the gender selection wasn't working, show women/men when the player selected otherwise. This has been fixed in most places (still WIP)
What am I working on?
- Adding custom interactions for each character in the game.
- Adding ways to hide/escape from enemies and overall improve the hunted experience.
- Show when enemies are about to move to make it more clear what is going on
- Add a way to beat the game. I have some fun ideas for this that I'm prototyping currently.
