We’re still keeping ourselves busy working on all the other features we need to implement for Chapter 2, and we’re getting even closer to actually being able to build levels for the next big update!
And if you already thought we were inspired by Portal… Well, your belief will become even stronger after you see what we’ve been working on!
Oh nein, nicht mein Würfel! (Oh no, not my cube!)
We’ve got Disintegration Panels! If you’ve ever played any Portal game in the series, you might already know how this works. Any Stage Object that passes through this panel disintegrates and respawns back to its starting position in the stage.
This will hopefully allow us to create levels that are more challenging by creating an impassable obstacle for objects. If you have any ideas for how we could utilize this in our game, do hit us up!
And before some of you ask (my fellow speedrunners), no, these will not be put at the Stage Exits like in Portal. If you wanna do the 1-3 Maze Skip Trick by simply carrying a cube from one stage to another, we’re not gonna stop you from doing so! (because we think that strat is sick)
Look at that spinnin’ B E A M
Lasers? We’ve got ‘em.
The Laser Emitter is a new thing we’ve added! And while it is at default completely static and harmless as long as you know that it’s there, they can be modified to spin in a pattern, track the player, and much more, making them an interesting obstacle to try to avoid.
Unlike the Disintegration Panels, which allow a player to pass through but not Stage Objects, Lasers can kill players in an instant, but can be blocked by the level environment and other Stage Objects.
As we stated above, these can be modified to make challenging levels, and we want to use these in interesting ways. So, if you have any ideas of how we can utilize this in-game, please give ‘em to us!
Also, let’s appreciate how good this laser effect looks. Wow.
wow. thats neat.
The “Drastically Smaller” QoL Update
We’re releasing a new Hotfix soon! Most likely this Sunday or Monday, give or take.
It mostly contains a few smaller fixes and additions in response to recent bug reports and feature requests, which have been far and few!
It also contains behind-the-scenes prep work and features for Chapter 2, like the ones above. Soo… We’re not necessarily condoning this behaviour, but if you wanted to get an early look at how the new features work, you could… I mean… Y’know.
I mean, look at the handsome face on those thumbnails. Don’t you just wanna listen to this gorgeous man speak endlessly about his game?
We tend to keep our audiences updated about our game on a more frequent basis, so if you wanna be part of the crowd, please do give us a follow!
You can find us on…
If you like the game or have any useful feedback, please feel free to give the game a positive review or rating, or just share the game around! It’s a small gesture, but it makes a huge difference and makes us very happy, no matter if it’s positive or constructive criticism.😁
We also welcome anyone to upload or stream their gameplay of Just Keep Running, and feel free to share that gameplay with us if you so wish! FYI, Twitch streamers, we have our own game category on there… 😉
