#announcement
AstraX has been on hiatus for a few months due to me doing some important soul-searching (quite literally).
Version 0.2.5 should drop sometime in the next 1-2 weeks. There are a few annoying bugs I need to fix before I can release for everyone to play.
I've been slowly getting back to it the past two weeks, doing some important polish for the next version, 0.2.5, which was ~80% complete at the start of the hiatus. Happy to report that development speed compared to pre-hiatus has not slowed down and I can just continue development as if nothing happened (I suppose that are the perks of being a professional software developer).
Version 0.2.5 features some major modding and targeting upgrades, new trait icons and pretty nebula backgrounds!
I've struggled a lot getting these backgrounds to work properly and I finally had a break-through. The nebulae are procedurally generated and their density is dependent on proximity to the galaxy center. This feature is highly configurable and will be build upon in the future (e.g. I can add black holes or supernova remnants scattered in those backgrounds).
For any future versions, I'm trying to add as many user experience improvements as possible before heading to a larger batch of new features, which mostly center around resources and ship editors.
I need to reschedule my release plan for AstraX. The content of the plan itself didn't change much, and neither did the rough outline of features described in my previous posts. Still sticking to the general plan, just with a delay.
Thanks for reading and staying with me!
