Welp. It's about 10 minutes until the deadline of the game jam and I'm done with the page. If I'm honest, the deadline was more than enough. Was able to finish the game and even add fluff to it and still be done 3 hours before the deadline. I'm proud of what I did today. This 48 hours actually put game development into perspective to me.
The first 24 or so hours I just spent doing nothing but coding and bare minimum assets just to get a minimum "technically working" gameplay loop. Then I spen the next 24 hours just adjusting the game's vibe, making music, decorating, balancing etc etc. That last part is what makes a prototype into a game. From something you or maybe a couple of friends enjoy to something everyone can enjoy. Something that is memorable.
This 48 hours seems to be the sweetspot for me when it comes to game jams. I was very happy to work essentially two full days on just this and nothing else, but I'm mentally very tired if I'm honest. I can barely think. Can't wait to destress and see everyone else's submissions!
