Hello everybody!
Let's just hit the ground running. No, Chub Chomp Chill isn't finished. Version 0.6 is still coming.
I've given sparse updates on Twitter (and Patreon, wink wink), but given the fast-paced nature of the site, many people seem to miss said updates. So I figured I'd give a more concrete update here out of hopes of reaching more people.
There are two main reasons why Version 0.6 is taking so long. The first and most straight-forward reason is because I have a new job now that takes a lot of my time. The second reason is because Version 0.6, along with new stuff, is largely a refactoring update. Refactoring is when you go back into old code and rewrite it to be more efficient. Along with adding new features, I also want CCC to run better. I want more bugs to be ironed out. I don't want people to be afraid of their citizens or inventory suddenly not existing. That's what refactoring is for. However, the caveat that comes with that is that it's essentially remaking a sizable chunk of the game.
As of the time of me writing this, CCC isn't even in a properly playable state due to all the refactoring currently being done and how all the game's systems are entwined. If you change the inventory script, then the eating script won't work. If you fix the eating script, then the weight script won't work, and so on.
Lots of progress IS being made, though. The reason I don't show off things more often is because I don't want to promise elements until I'm 100% confident they will work in the game properly. But good things are indeed happening behind the scenes.
That being said. I still don't think I'm quite confident enough to give a concrete release window. The end of summer would be very ideal. But game dev isn't always ideal, heh heh.
Anyways, that's the current gist of what's currently going on with Chub Chomp Chill. Thank you all so much for your patience and your support. Believe me, I want this update to come out just as much as you do, and I'm trying my hardest to work toward that!
