#devlog #1.1
We recently got the opportunity to launch PlayDaPon on the Playdate Catalog. This was a great opportunity to fix some bugs and add some features we’ve been wanting to add for a while. These include:
* Note: Global High Score Tables Only available when purchased through the playdate catalog.
In this mode, you have 3 minutes to get as high a score as possible. The difficulty settings are based on the “medium” mode (rise speed, garbage blocks, etc). Remember that combos and chains are the key to high scores!
For folks who purchase through the catalog, we’ve added support to Playdate’s global high score tables, viewable on the bottom of the catalog page.
You still keep your local high scores regardless. Unfortunately, existing scores won’t be uploaded, so you’ll have to get the score with the new build to get on the tables. There are already some great scores showing up from the community!
As noted, this is only available to players who purcahse on the Playdate Catalog.
Builds available now on both itch.io and Catalog are built against Playdate OS 2.0. We’ve also included other small fixes and cleanup.
We continue to have a lot of fun building for the playdate. The biggest surprise to us was the panic-provided build in C-based JSON parser. We ended up removing it from the game due to problems we were having getting it working and using a simpler home-rolled solution.
The other odd hurdle was bundling for release. We’re still ironing out a good deployment pipeline.
Otherwise, adding in the Time Attack mode was straightforward.
Thanks for reading! We hope you enjoy PlayDaPon!
