I put this video out a week ago, but forgot to write a dev log post following it. I covered somethings in the video, but I'll talk about some of the feedback I got as well.
As for the problems with the game.
Biggest complaint by a longshot. It's a jittery mess, and going in and out of aiming is messed up. There were also problems with speed at different resolutions and someone wanted inverted control options. This is going to be difficult to fix in the long term, but I'll try my best.
I'm working on this with Cybersurfer as well, and will be porting any fixes these to this. That said, I do understand those some of you don't like the way the hoverboard feels and would prefer and normal surfing type board, and that's a change I might make as I originally planned for that to begin with but changed it to a hoverboard because I thought it would be simpler (Spoiler: It fucking isn't).
Right now I'm trying to figure out a lot of problems with this. The bug about the arrows sticking to the player is due to how I'm enabling and disabling arrow placement during the animation, but that system isn't gelling well with the camera or rigging system I have. I'll try and find a solution.
This project is a side project of mine, it's not a main project, so development will be done in small bursts whenever I decide to take breaks from my main projects, so don't expect frequent updates. I would also like to point out that SandSurfer is just a working title, and you shouldn't take it as a descriptor of the game verbatim. Yes, you surf sand dunes, but I'm intending on adding other biomes and things in too. Hell, once I sort out all these troublesome problems, I then have to get a monster in the game that you can climb on.
Anyway, I'll try and post an update again within 6 months.
