7 days long marathon to submit a game to GameDev.tv jam is finally complete. This is my first proper PC game, so I learned a ton lot during the process. Halfway through it turned out to have a potential for a fully fleshed game, so I stay awake the most of nights to polish it.
How it started
Entangled's idea came from my friend half a year ago. I encouraged him to learn Unity, so he played with it for a couple weeks. He had made a basic proof of concept of two characters binded to same controls, along with the black-white theme. As soon as I saw the Jam's theme I was reminded of my friends idea and directly started to work on it. After many iterations on game design, we landed on what Entangled is now. I plan to discuss the process, theme, and the art of the game will be discussed in a future devlog.
Back to the Jam
I wanted to make every aspect of the game from sounds effects to graphics (can make a devlog on that too), so I only had a stable build two days before deadline. This left me 24 hours to make levels. Despite all of it, I managed to submit a version that had enough content to be considered longer than a demo.
Future plans
As much as I'm happy with it, I plan to release more content to make this game reach it's potential, as I find it to be incredibly satisfying to play and complete levels, and I wish I had more levels to play, however I'm the one making them... This gave me idea to make a level builder for the game and quickly realised this would be essential for this kind of game. So to sum it up
Also, first time devlogging! Or any kind of online sharing really! I hope this will help me reach to people that care about original indie games and art. Thank you for reading.
