This is a minor update due to some rules changes which improve the game. Some special abilities granted both advantage and +1 skill die. For a starting character, that's great, but it resulted in accelerated character growth. Simply granting advantage alters the probability of success quite a bit, so the extra skill die was removed.
The improved armor rules didn't work well with shields. Advanced armor + a shield resulted in an almost invincible character. After considering options, the rules were changed so a shield gives +1 armor point and needs to be repaired after use. This makes armor the primary defense and shields are an added bonus. This balances things out nicely.
