the nasal update, and some thanks to our readers

This has, in not that much time, become our most-viewed itch.io page - and that’s super cool! It’s cool that people are using this guide, and it’s super cool hearing people create names for themselves. Despite our regular tweaking, it feels on a pretty basic level like we made a good resource for people, and that’s awesome.

During our last tweak, though, we realized there was a big part we were kinda missing, and that’s the whole n-at-the-end-of-a-syllable thing. It feels like we covered everything else pretty well, but this bit was lacking - and it’s actually a little complicated. If you use the .pdf version, you’ll notice that it’s a full page longer.

That space was taken up on:

• explaining how to pronounce the ‘-n’ at the end of the syllable, because it’s easy to say but a little complicated to describe, and
• adding an example that uses that ‘-n’, to talk about how this pronunciation knowledge can shape your tokiponization.

That said, over the past month, I don’t think there’s been anything else missing that we still need to address. It’s been so much fun hearing people talk about their new toki pona names (do feel free to comment with y’all’s, seriously!), and I’m glad that we can contribute to the community. I’m sure there’ll be more edits, but we’re officially calling this version 1.0 of the guide.
