I'm pleased with how this turned out. I feel like the processes I underwent to provide detailed documentation and tutorials for doing certain things within Unreal Engine and VR hardware helped me understand some of the more advanced concepts of developing in the engine.
In particular, the hand detection system is something I hadn't even thought to try. It's one of the most advanced things I've done within VR, and I think it has the potential of doing some really cool things once the students at the Studios get their hands on the programming. Outside of that, I'm very happy with the documentation I wrote, and even happier that the steps I followed worked well enough for me to write them down.
For now, though, I'm going to take some Dramamine, hang up my headset, and focus on expanding my capabilities as a gameplay programmer in a non-VR setting.
