Hi y'all!
This week I've been hard at work to bring a number of workflow and quality of life improvements to STEPPER, as well as a few bugfixes. I was planning on making a video demo of the new features but I started recording some patterns in STEPPER and got distracted writing an entire song with a few other instruments. Whoops! So no video for now, but here is a list of the changes implemented in this version:
- UI tweaks
- Now the piano roll displays notes in a contextual manner. If a trig is selected the current note for the trigger will be shown. When the cursor hovers over a channel, the last played note will be displayed. Finally, elsewhere all the current tonal notes (Ch.1 to 3) will be shown as they play.
- Quality of life improvements
- Per-channel parameter adjustment.
- While hovering over the channel selection, the channel parameters will show up (in grey). The color differentiation signifies the difference between per-channel and per-trig parameter adjustment.
- Adjusting any parameters in this mode will copy the parameters to all 16 triggers.
- This works with copy/paste, meaning you can copy a trig/parameter page and paste it on a compatible channel, transferring the sound to the rest of the triggers.
- Global channel parameters are not stored on the SRAM but they are not needed, since their function is to adjust the rest of the triggers.
- Per-channel note transposition.
- Using L or R while hovering over a channel will change all the trig notes in that channel accordingly.
- Use the modifier key SELECT + L/R to transpose all notes in the channel by an octave (12 semitones).
- Quick saving the current bank with (SELECT + START).
- The modifier key, SELECT, paired with L/R can now be used for large adjustments of notes (per octave) and BPM (+/- 10 BPM).
- Wrap around the cursor from the left and right columns.
I hope you enjoy these changes and please let me know if you end up using STEPPER to write a song or just to jam about, I would love to hear it!
Best,
Bad Diode
