Hello and welcome to the fourth devlog for The Aftermath- Wasteland! We’ve been working hard on some exciting new features and updates for the game, which made us a little late uploading this devlog. But now that we have achieved our milestones for the week, let’s get a sneak peek at the progress made so far.
The most noticeable update of this week sits literally on your screen with the implementation of a heads-up display (HUD). Players will now be able to get an overview of their health bar, avatar name, weapon info and mission info among other stuff. Keep track of that health meter while fighting the unknown terrors of the Wasteland!
Inviting your friends for a co-op mission? See their avatars once they accept the invitation to join your entourage (team). And don’t forget the motto, “One for all, all for one”.
Find a purpose for your existence in a post-apocalyptic world with the help of a newly implemented mission system in the Wasteland. We have added the following missions to get you started:
All these missions can be completed individually as well as in a co-op manner. For the deliver package mission, we have also implemented a stats screen which will pop up once you complete the mission, detailing the kill count of each entourage member.
With the aforementioned updates, the majority of the implementation for this prototype is finished. For the coming week, we have planned a few beta tests for our game so that we can focus our efforts towards finding and fixing any game-breaking bugs. We will also be working on implementing audio and visual enhancements, which include adding background scores, SFX and lighting improvements in the game.
This concludes the devlog for the current week. The team is excited to release this game to early testers and see their reactions. We will also be taking critical feedback from them to improve the gameplay design and overall user experience. Stay tuned for the next update to learn how the beta testing goes.
Until then, peace 🤞
