Devlog #8 Progress update: May 2023 and Part Two news

How is it May already…? It was February just a second ago. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

But anyway, hereā€™s a fresh selection of Quaint news from the past few months. Also, Part One is almost at 300 downloads rn so thank you if you gave it a try. šŸ„°

Now, Part Two! Part Two will focus on Qā€™s struggles with the past and his feelings for Milo, but youā€™ll also meet a bunch of new characters, too! Thereā€™ll be new spells, an inside look into the Organization, DECISIONS, flashbacks, murder, and a magical (?) house party. Youā€™ll also get to pick a school and hang out with other apprentices. Part Two will be about twice as long as Part One, so thereā€™s A LOT of content in store. (It is also my favorite part of the game and Iā€™m very, very excited to share it.)

As for the actual progress, Iā€™m almost done writing a bunch of additional scenes and rewriting small sections that needed to be changed. (I also decided to make four new CGs just for the sake of those added scenes, because of course I did, I have no self-control) Then Iā€™ll just need to program these in and make final edits to the script.

Overall, I think the update is about 85% done? Iā€™d love to have it out by Pride because thatā€™s when the Queer Games bundle goes live (and Quaint will be a part of it, too!). Still, there are some external factors at play so I canā€™t promise anything. Iā€™ll do my best to finish it in time, though!

Oh, also! I just released a very short kinetic novel for the O2A2 jam. It's a bittersweet story about family ties set in 17th-century Japan. (Itā€™s also an AU to Quaint, so…) Check it out here if you havenā€™t already:
