Devlog #6 : Third Week of Production

Introduction

Greetings, valued readers. We have a bunch of exciting updates and features to share with you this week. The highlight being that our game is now fully playable. For further information, kindly continue reading.

Art

To begin with, we have incorporated a temporary user interface for the main screen and in-game heads-up display (we still have a few problems tho). These will be updated in the future for improved functionality. We have also introduced an arena room where players can engage in battles, with plans to enhance the arena's features later in the production process.

Moreover, we have revamped the backgrounds of our rooms to make them more suitable. This involved altering the background layout and adding smoke to provide more depth. Additionally, we have included multiple platforms to enhance the gameplay experience.

Furthermore, we have integrated several particle effects, such as gun particles, player death particles, sludge particles, and spike particles. We have also incorporated more sounds, including the main music track, player death sounds, and sound effects for hazards. However, only the sludge and zombie sound effects are currently available, with the remaining ones to be implemented next week.

Programming

On the programming side of things, we hava also moved forward. The players can now join the arena, a giant room to portal away in.  However, be aware that death is now a possibility and you'll need to be clever and outsmart your oponents by dropping them into the deadly sludge pit or putting the zombie on their path.

In addition, we've made significant improvements to our portals, making them smoother and easier to place around the map. This will give players even more options to strategize and gain an edge over their opponents.
