fixed a bug that has plagued this app for over a year

the game has shadows now lmao

I might do a major overhaul of this project at some point. This is the first time i had opened it in over a year and looking at the code caused me so much pain and so I'd probably start entirely from scratch if I decide to do this... No promises!
