Nicholas Fisher - Playtest Results_Alpha Build
Hey all!
Just writing a post to compile all of the feedback we got from playtesters during CURSCA, as well as some additional feedback from my own playtest of the alpha build.
CURSCA Feedback:
- Text needs to be faster
- Could possibly use a headshot of the player character
- Ship overlays the “How to Play” popup in the Delivery Game
- Packages could be overlaid onto the conveyer belt during the Packing game
- Add a “Packages Left” widget to the Packing game
- Packages could be made to fall at a much faster rate
- Make the fuel bar more obvious during the Charting game
- Delivery game’s UI could be revamped
- Meteors in the Delivery game appear at the bottom of the screen
- Change the wording on the Charting game to inform players that they should start at the center of the map
- Upgrades in the shop should disappear after being purchased
- Balance the volume between cutscenes and gameplay
- Mission select screen could use a soundtrack
- Damage in the Asteroids game should be more consistent
- Hard version of Charting game is too difficult
In-Class Playtest:
- Intro:
- Add button to advance text without skipping
- Postmaster still has old border asset
- Mission Select:
- Text on the Mission Select screen could use an actual textbox, instead of being blue text on a black rectangle
- Text repeats if you go into the shop and come back before choosing a mission
- Could get assets to replace the default Unity buttons
- Shop:
- If possible, expand it to meet the edges of the screen
- Could use something to do once I’ve purchased all the upgrades
- Delivery game could use an upgrade associated with it, as all the other minigames do.
- Packing:
- You can win just by holding down - make it so the player looses if the stack goes above the top border
- I purchased the Package Rotation upgrade, but was not informed of how to actually rotate packages.
- Charting:
- Game should end once the player has hit all required targets
- Asteroids:
- Damage needs to be more consistent.
- Hard version of Asteroids needs to be longer, rather than just having the big asteroids.
- Delivery:
- Update art
- Occasional rounding error - was able to get +- .99999999999
All in all, I think we're in a good spot. Pretty much all that's left now is bug-fixing and polishing. Great work on the alpha build, everyone! Onwards!
