Text Bleeps & more! (0.5.7)

Artificial Selection
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Thanks to the 3 new people who joined the beta, a bunch of fresh ideas were brought up — the biggest one being the addition of text bleeps. The setting is off by default for new players, but feel free to check it out and let me know what you think!

I'll also take this opportunity to announce that I'm hosting an exclusive drawing livestream in my Discord server this Sunday! It'll contain spoilers for the beta, but there's still enough time for you to catch up if you're interested. We'd love to see you there!

With that out of the way, here comes the fun part: Patch notes!

  • Added optional text beeps to the dialogue.
  • You can now press F to pay respects during a certain scene.
  • Added more camera movements to the common route.
  • Renamed "Help" to "Talk" since some of you were too proud and stubborn to use that feature.
  • The settings screen now remembers which sub-menu you had open.
  • Added the ability to remove the pink name border.
  • Each volume setting can now be muted individually.
  • Turned the "Old Pixel Art" setting into a cheat.*
  • Added a rare easter egg conversation to the break room.*
  • Normalized sound effect volume.
  • Refined the notification queue.
  • Added image borders to the gallery screen.*
  • Fixed a certain ending unlocking in the flowchart too soon.*
  • Reduced the file size of all the backgrounds (-40 MB in total).
  • Adjusted the "Play the Beta!" text based on which version you are playing.*
  • Slightly increased the size of the main menu buttons.
  • Fixed typos.

*Beta only
