#DriveThruRPG #ORC License #Stability #Balance #Alchemy #Potions
While the License is still being hashed out, we have a solid understanding of what it’s spirit / contents are. One of the benefits of the ORC License is that System Reference Documents are not needed - the license itself delineats between Game Mechanics (“ORC Content”) and Product Identity.
Will update the page with the text of the official license, once it is made official, but a placeholder is currently present
The Basic Resources are now divided into two categories Geologicals (Molten Minerals, Odd Ore) and Botanicals (Strange Sap, Arcane Algae, Helpful Herbs). Some creatures (or perhaps GM created situations) run the risk of destabilizing (breaking) the potions made by the party.
Botanicals - 50% will remain Stable Geologicals - 60% will remain Stable Balanced - 80% will remain Stable.
The most stable are balanced potions. These include at least one ingredient from each type. The presence of both Botanicals and Geologicals provides alchemical balance. This balance also can also influence the effects of potions.
One use effect potions now come in two flavors - Instantaneous and Irreversible and Persist Until Dismissed The Table for One-Use Effect potions remains the same, but if you want the effect to be persistent until dismissed, you will need to add a resource of the opposite resource type. So A Strange Sap based potion is made with 3 SS + 1 AA as its base price. If you want a Persist Until Dismissed effect, you could add 1 MM or 1 OO or make the potion Balanced
If you thoroughly read or better yet playtest the system let me know what you think works and what needs improvement.
If you want Hostile Sun to be apart of your Drive Thru Library, it is available on DriveThruRPG as well.
