It has been a while since I last posted a dev log here. I have been developing Purple Noise Echo in my spare time for several years now, so progress has been slow. However, despite not posting updates, I have been regularly updating the game.
I'm pleased to announce that the game is now in its release stage, version 1.3 to be precise. While I may make some updates in the near future to fix any bugs, I believe the game is complete according to the scope I set for myself. The game will officially leave the "in development" status in a few days!
Developing a game alone, alongside my daily work and family life, was not an easy task. It required me to question the game's ambitions, its scope, and to rationalize its design. I had to focus on the core of the game, to make it stand on its own and offer players the experience I hoped to share.
It has been a long road, with many challenges and learnings about my own way of designing a game from start to finish. I believe this project's design was most shaped by its constraints, more than any other project I've worked on. The shaping was slow, but I cannot see it being any other way today, so I think, I hope, I've come up with something.
Anyway, this project is very special to me, and I hope it will be appreciated for what it is.
It's time for me to move on to something else. I have several other game projects, which I hope to be able to complete by myself, this time as well. Creating my own game universe and sharing it with players is a fundamental need for me, even if it can be complicated and time-consuming.
If you enjoy this game, please let others know about it and share your feedback.
Enjoy the game!
