I've been lucky enough to be included in a group who is play testing a system a friend is working on. That system uses opposed rolls for everything, which is a lot of fun! When testing that game, I thought of Pay The Price and how the effort is a static number based on difficulty. There's not much of a reason why the effort couldn't also be determined by a die roll.
So, this update now includes two options for determining the effort target number. The Facilitator can either set a static number as before, or roll a die to see what the target number is. This makes for a much more dynamic game and puts dice in the Facilitators hands, which is always a good thing, right!?
Oh, and to speed things up or play the game solo, simply roll the effort die along with the attribute die for quick resolution.
